So I didn’t even know this was possible: a volcano began erupting beneath a glacier in southern Iceland this weekend, creating a surreal-looking, 800-meter-long gash in the ice. More than 600 nearby residents were evacuated yesterday as a precaution. It’s the first volcano eruption in Iceland since 2004, and the first one in this region of the country in the past two centuries.

The Zurich based architect and designer Rafael Schmidt submitted this new bike sharing system to a competition which was organised within last year’s International Climate Conference in Copenhagen. The system involves a comprehensive architectural intervention into the urban centre.
“The Bike Share System must become more than just a transporting system. It deals not only with the problem of stocks and flows of people, but must add extra value to its user and to the city itself.”

The name says it all and further solidifies our opinon that Copenhagen has got to be the bike capitol of the universe.
We especially love how this bike blog is for the more fashiony cyclists among us….but doesn’t get too pretentious at that ;) We especially like the biking “music videos” made by the copenhagencyclechic.com peeps themselves that capture biking culture in other cities.
